If I could name one thing that has improved the most in the real estate business, it would be the photography used for property listings. Twenty two years ago (my first year) Realtors were given a weekly book from their local MLS that contained the most recent real estate listings (for Realtors eyes only). Home buyers had no list of properties that were available and depended on their Realtors to provide that information from “the MLS book”, which contained maybe one photo and a small amount of information. In 1996, David Kahn & Company Real Estate was one of the first, if not the first, real estate web sites in the Montgomery area, hence the online advertisement of real estate listings for our clients. Today, our real estate world has evolved to the online publishing of multiple professional photos of each listing along with descriptions that can sometimes be much too much for the attention span of our buyers. These listings are syndicated to hundreds of websites and social media. Which would you prefer for your Realtor to publish of your home, a Realtor do-it-yourself photo (left) or a beautiful, magazine-like photo taken by a professional (right)? It truly is your choice.
